After a turbulent year in the fruit and vegetable industry we have rolled into December on a positive note with our last Sydney Direct Fresh Produce farm and market tour of the year.

We had the pleasure of taking thirty top flight chefs to several farms in the local NSW area to learn from the grower themselves. To kick off the day we took the chefs to the Sydney Markets to explore the hustle and bustle of the fruit and vegetable industry.

It is a real pleasure to be featured in the “Leader 2020 Special Issue” from The Sydney Markets. Like many providers, SDFP saw a dramatic reduction in business when COVID-19 derailed the hospitality industry.

This caused our business to reduced sales by 80-85% meaning we had to think fast and smart.

We want to thank Harris Farm Markest for coming together with SDFP to secure jobs for our team. Not only does this mean we can keep the SDFP train running, but we get to support our growers and the community with fresh fruit, vegetables and everyday staples at this testing time.

We can not stress enough that our goal is to be ready to hit the ground running when the hospitality industry bounces back.

One of the goals for 2020 was to educate our customers even more about where their produce is grown. To do this, we will be taking our customers on local NSW farm tours so they can hear it from the source. THE SDFP farm to plate experience is like no other, and we are proud to be pioneering these educational trips for the hospitality space.
