Cold weather across the entire Eastern seaboard over the past week has really slowed growth of many of the vegetable lines which has in turn pushed some prices up. Tomatoes in particular are very short in supply and expensive. This will last 2-3 weeks until the North Queensland growing region gears up after which we will see much more supply hit the market.

Wild foraged Pine Mushrooms and Slippery Jack Mushrooms are now in good supply and very good quality. The price has also halved as a better supply has become available.

With the colder weather all the citrus is starting to improve. Imperial Mandarins are now in good supply and great eating. Yuzu has also started, however, this year’s crop will be smaller in size due to a cold wet spring when the trees were flowering last year. Cauliflower Blossom is also in consistent supply now and great value.

Local Jerusalem Artichoke is abundant in supply and has also come back in price as more supply hits the market. Supply will be available for at least the next six months so have confidence in putting it on the menu.

Cooler weather over the past few weeks has really hampered supply of some of the Vegetable lines as the cooler weather slows growth. In particular tomato lines have really slowed down with prices increasing. South East Queensland growing region of Bundaberg and Stanthorpe are just starting to hit the market so we expect this situation to improve in coming weeks.

With the change of seasons upon us we’re seeing some new Autumn lines starting and some Summer lines, including Peaches, Nectarines, Mangoes etc, finishing up. All Stone Fruit will deteriorate in quality over the next 3-4 weeks as the season comes to a close.

Nearly all Vegetable lines out of Victoria and South East QLD are in good supply and are representing good value at the moment.
